~Update Time~

Well, we went back to the pediatrician today and Bradlee had lost 4 pounds in a month. Just a reminder that we started meds for the first time in June (Vyvanse). I talked to ped. about the weight loss and she encouraged me to feed him a good breakfast. This makes sense as he eats well before meds kick in.

I talked to ped. about the OCD rearing its ugly head. She wants me to keep on 30 mg. Vyvanse for two more weeks and see if it gets better. If not, she will add something for the OCD issues. She was leaving to go out of town for two weeks, so she did not want to add something new until she returned.

Bradlee's occupational therapist notices a huge difference in his focusing and staying on task. Both the ot and ped. suggested and IEP for ot and speech therapy since he starts kindergarten in a few weeks.  I am going to get the ball rolling on this when I go to in-service on Thursday.

How is everyone else doing? I hope all is well .

Jon, my 8 y/o did not have success on Vyvance. He is on 15mg of focalinxr and I have seen big difference with the ocd. Perhaps your ped can change meds instead of adding to them.

It is normal to see weight loss at first.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.  Our dr told us to add protien in the morning.  He said if she would eat a "lumber jack" type of breakfast than to do it.  She gets an egg and cheese sandwich in the morning and then if she wants something else she can have it.  He said there are some parents that give their kids hamburgers and hotdogs for breakfast because it's what they'll eat.  Also add some bed time snacks in the evening.

Good luck!!

MY SON 10, HAS BEEN ON THE RAISED DOSE OF 50MG FRON THE 30 FOR 4 WEEKS NOW. I TOO WORRY ABOUT THE WEIGHT ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND THAT IF YOU TAKE HIM OUT OF THE "PLAY" MODE HE WILL EAT MORE. HE EATS A TON FOR DINNER.  hIS BEHAIVIOR IS MUCH BETTER BUT THE BIG TEST IS WHEN SCHOOL STARTS AGAIN  IN 1 MONTH. HE ALSO NEEDS STUCTURED TIME THIS SUMMER HAS BEEN TOO LOOSE FOR HIM AND HE HAS TROUBLE. IF YOU FIND 30 ISN'T WORKING, THE NEXT JUMP TO 50 SCARED ME AT FIRST BUT EVERYTHING WAS OK.
