Hello wedrington,
I have not been adderall, but from past experience, any time you stop taking a med cold turkey, you set yourself up for adverse effects. Your doctor should have weaned you off very slowly by lowering your perscription every week or so. I have been on Lexapro for 5 years and if i miss 3-4 days I feel like I have the flu! Please call your doctor because it is unhealthy to stop taking a med so abruptly.
Stimulant medications are not blood level medications so therefore there is no weaning process. Medication taken as prescribed flushes out of the system not too long after effectiveness has worn off. When effective medication is stopped, the return of the stress and anxiety one experiences as a result of having ADHD may return. The effects of the stopping of the meds is the return of the ADHD symptoms. I suggest that you bring the headaches to the attention of your medical doctor to first rule out a medical reason. There is no known correlation between stopping ADHD meds and headaches during sexual intercourse but tension may play a big role. Good luck and let us know how things are going.I've been taking 15-30 mg of adderall a day for around 4 yrs. I've recently stopped taking it and have experienced one side effect that has me worried. I've had pretty intense headaches, but only during sexual intercourse. I dismissed it a couple of times, but it has continued. I quit around a week ago and have experienced this four separate times since then. I guess I'm hoping to hear of a similar experience, so that I know something else isn't happening. Thanks for any comments! luvmykids has a good point about the tension. I actually take meds to PREVENT tension and migraine headaches. One of the precursors was exertional headaches, I got them when I ran, but it can be common during sexual intercourse also. Google tension headaches and/or exertional headaches to see if it applies. It's always good to have as much informaiton as possible when you go to see the doctor.
