help me out here. i goto walgreens for my rx. i was in a different walgreens then the one i usually get my rx filled.. but since i was shopping there and had my rx on me.. i thought.. duh..whynot get it filled here.. well long story short..

i went home with pink pills round ones.. 30mg still.. but pink and round. i usually get oval peach ones.. which apparently are from the manufacturer barr.. i've taken these pink ones for 5 days... and its almost as tho i'm not taking anything. or maybe a 5mg. they suck.

can i call my dr and ask for a new rx? so i can obtain my peach/barr ones again? i will give my doctor my pink crappy pills! its frustrating.. i have such a busy next 2 weeks of works/meetings/conferences, this is really gonna slow me down. oh, and i actually felt tired on them. i felt like doubling my dose.. but i know thats stupid. also.. crap.. i think my dr. is on vacation.. but her other sidekick who i've seen before is there.. my next appt not for 3 weeks.

suggestions, thoughts..ideas.. experiences?

i'm pissed at walgreens for sending me out the door and not even telling me what they gave me was different then what i usually get. FRUSTRATION.

Some people respond better to one brand of generic than they do to a different brand of generic of the same medication.  Call your dr., and you should be able to get insurance to cover switching back to the familiar generic brand.  If your doctor doesnt put no substitutions on the precription, then the pharmacy WILL give you a generic if one is available. You're doctor will need to put that on there. You're insurance may not cover the cost of the name brand if there is a generic available, just to make you aware.

I agree with Mom2ADHDboy-- I experienced the exact same thing as you did Bluesgirls.  I'd always gotten the Barr orange oval generic Adderall until one time I got instead the round pink pills--a 90 day supply of them!  They're duds (at least for me and you!).  What I did was call the pharmacy and asked if I could exchange the pink ones for the orange ones if I brought in a new prescription from my doctor and the pharmacy said yes, they would, if my insurance company was ok with that.  So I had to call the insurance company, and (luckily) they understood and said ok (I think I had to ask the insurance company to communicate that to the pharmacy).  Anyhoo... my doc wrote me another script, which I took to the pharmacy along with the unused pink pills, and I was able to make the swap.

NOTE:  I just noticed that Shire corp. submitted a citizen petition (back in 2005)  to the FDA urging that generic manufacturers perform trials on their immitation Adderall XR before releasing it (once the XR patent expires in Spring 09).  I'm no defender of mega pharmaseudical companies but I think such trials should be required so as to avoid generic duds like these round pink pills from being produced.  Our insurance companies demand we take these generic copies--so they had better work!!  Anyone know how we can offer our support to this petition--as I would like to let the FDA know how I feel!
