This link is an article that tells how to teach a child to ride a 2 wheeler. My neighbor used this method with her 7 year old and it worked like a charm! My 6 year old isnt ready to take her training wheels off so we haven't done it yet. I'll pm you the link too in case it gets deleted, but maybe it won't, it's not a sales pitch or anything, just an article for bike riding..................

We have a bike camp in town every first week in June. It is run by the Easter
oh yes! It's probably a program called Rainbow Trainers, you can google it, they run programs all over the country and teach kids to ride.
Diane V39677.7331481481Thanks for the advice. I'm looking into the links and to see if rainbow trainers has a location near us.thanks ladies for this info. ... my son is 6 1/2 and really has no desire to learn how to ride his two wheeler either...maybe this will help usWe got my daughter abike when she was 5 with training wheels. We took the wheels off when she was 7 almost 8. After we took the whels off she didn't show any intrest in it, So we just put the bike up. Well when she turned 10 she diecided to try again and with in 6 months she was riding it. I wouldn't worry about it to much he will ride when ready. Melissa
I started on training wheels when I was 4. I learned how to ride a twoYou remove the pedals and lower the seat so his feet can touch the ground firmly. He practices being pushed or pushing himself and learns balance. Then you put the pedals back on but do not raise the seat until a comfort level is reached.
As far as motivation, you bring him to a place where other kids his age are riding without training wheels. Lots of them. Like Bike to School Day or to the local skateboard park, or on a camping trip with other families. Peer pressure is a wonderful thing sometimes.
I taught my son to ride on the grass first. He was very fearful on riding on the sidewalk, yet he wanted to learn so bad. He was four years old at the time. I took off the training wheels and he practiced all over the backyard until he felt confortable on the sidewalk. Worked like a charm.Wyatt didn't learn until last summer. He had no confidence or interest to work hard. He started on his own when he was ready and this year he's riding a dirt bike. I wouldn't worry too much. It will come.
