Hi, new to board... | ADHD Information

Share
Welcome- I am the mum of an 8 year old who has ADHD (combined) as well as Giftedness.  You will find a lot of good support and information here.

Just noticing that age 7 is a big year for ADHD diagnosis- or am I imagining that?  It's when my dd was diagnosed, though we had an idea of course long before...

keep lots of fruit and raw veggies with veggie dips around the house.  and i always let my ds eat when ever he wants.  (he is 10 now).  Let her eat when ever she wants, that is the best way to ensure she is getting enough.  Keep a lot of raisin breads and deli meats with a variety of cheeses around for her too.  at first, i was a big "EAT WHEN IT IS DINNER TIME".  now, I'm happy he is eating at any time he feels it.  if you pack a lunch for school (which I suggest), pack a little bit of every thing, that way, she will eat some thing throughout the day.  when she hits about 10, she will eat and not stop till she is about 14.  I'm adhd and that is when i started eating.  I know you will be shocked to know that i ate like a bird all day every day for many many years.  as she gets older, let her keep snacks in her locker so she will be able to eat between classes.

good luck, and ask as many questions as you need.  we are all here to help.

btw - I'm from Texas too.

Looking for support from other parents.

My ds was diagnosed with Synsory Integration Dysfuntion at age 3 and ADHD at age 7 (within the last year).

Things get a little better each year. Still developmentally about 18 months or so behind. Biggest dilemma is appetite. Has always had food issues because of the sensory, but now with ADHD meds, it's really a problem.

Hoping to find a lot of support and information on this board.Welcome...People have helped me alot here.
