My Ped advised giving CIB in the morning with breakfast and after school with a snack. He said it actually made kids hungry. It worked for us for years.

If you put in a thermos, add a little ice and tell him to shake it a little before opening it. Any ice left will stir is up from sitting and keep the milk cold.

I give CIB to my son as many times a day as I can get it down him.  He is a skinny beanpole and all the extra calories and nutrition he can get is well worth the effort.  My sons dr doesn't have any issues with it.  But be sure and ask your dr if you are concerned about it.

i prob will send him to school with it or eat lunch with him on my days off of work. today he told me he only ate an orange for lunch b/c he didnt want chicken nuggets and wasnt hungry. so my kid had an orange for the whole day. theres no way he will gain weight that way. thanks for the info. 2 times a day prob isnt bad for him.

I am going to bring thr CIB to school with me when I pick him up. I still supply a lunck and snacks of which he eats some.. but I have a skeleton for a son so I pack it in as much as he can stand it and more.

When my son was younger my pediatrician suggested giving it to him
twice a day to help supplement missed meals. Have you asked about
giving him pedisure as well. I know it is full of vitamins as well, but it is
formulated esp for kids.

i could prob give him pediasure. i had just grabbed the powdered CIB b/c it was cheaper than anything premade in bottles. im hoping that if i do end up buying anything premixed that he will drink it b/c he is pretty picky. he wont touch the strawberry cib only choc. so now we have a whole container of strawberry that we wont use! maybe i will make a shake with that one. i bet he will drink it with icecream! thanks for all of your advice everyone!!! i dont know where i would be without this message board!

my friend gives her ds Boost for school lunch (along with food). He is really
picky but will drink Boost. I have given my ds Yoplait smoothies or other
yogurt smoothie drinks that you find with the yogurt at the supermarket. He
loves them.   Have you tried some type of power bar for lunch? there are
tons of varieties and a lot have lots of protein. You might find a flavor he
likes. I know Target has a whole aisle of them and some are loose so you
don't have to buy the entire box. Maybe he can pick out some that interest
him. Slim Fast bars are good as well. Lots of nutrients in them.

My son would never eat a school lunch so he always packed one. He lived on peanut butter and stick pretzals, a cookie and a drink for lunch for years. The doctor told me to put a cookie or something sweet in his lunch everyday to keep up his blood sugar. His lunch was more like snacks. I also fed him right after school, it wasn't the healthiest but it was chicken nuggets and french fries.  He still looked skinny, while his weight was good.

My son was the envy of his 3rd grade class because I would come to school with a hot lunch like chicken nuggets or fish for him once a week. We would go out into the courtyard and eat in a quiet place.

In kindergarten, they did weights of all the kids. I got a letter from the school saying his BMI was too high and he was in danger of becoming obese and I needed to have him evaluated by a doctor. His ribs would show if you pulled up his shirt. The doctor said not to worry about it.

I was thinking why not put the CIB already mixed in a thermos with lunch? would the milk keep?

yah i was thinking that too with the thermos but then i wondered if the milk would be ok and if ds would come home with the thermos! boost isnt an energy drink?? do the protien bars help to gain weight? they do have a bunch in target!!! i'll have to check them out.

does anyone have their child bring this to school to have with their lunch?? my son has been in school for 2 days now and im not so sure that he eats his lunch. he gets the school lunch, i dont send him with one. he has lost some wieght and we are trying to get him to gain a few pounds. the school lunch just seems so small that i think even if he is eating it i dont think its enough for him. i was thinking of sending the premade CIB to school. then he can just use it for his drink and get 220 extra calories for lunch. also i was wondering if any of u have given this to your child more than once a day. we give him his around 6:30 pm to go with a small meal after he has his dinner. we eat dinner around 4 so usually he is hungry again after the meds wear off and dinner is always pretty small for him since he has lost most of his appetite during the day. is this ok to have twice a day or would it have too many vitamins?? i know sometimes ppl can have too much vitamins and its not good. they say most thing are about 25% of the daily serving and a few are 50%. so, just an idea i was having and wondered if any of u have done this. thanks!!

I have no idea, but this sounds like a question for the pediatrician.  Even the advice nurse can give you better info for what you are asking about.  you are trying to be a good mom and have your child get the nutrition he needs.  Make sure you are doing the right thing.  they may have other ideas of products that are better.  You cannot be the only one with this question......
