Sign of a good school year? | ADHD Information

School starts on Monday here.  I received a call from my ds's new teacher yesterday inviting us to come in today and meet her prior to school starting while it is quiet and she can get to know him individually.  She told me that she had talked to his teacher from last year briefly but that she tries to go into each school year without any preconceived notions about the kids.  She said that she wanted to make sure he had a great school year and that she was willing to work with me to make sure he was successful.  I am grateful that she's already taking an interest in him and willing to make an extra effort to help him have a great year.  I'm hopeful that we've found a good teacher for him.

How lucky you are! I am sooooo jealous! Def sounds like things are starting off on a positive note. That definitely sounds good!  In the school my kids go to, they have the same teacher for 2 year blocks (so all the classes are split grades).  My dd had the same teacher for grade 1 and 2, now she's going into 3.  I'm so hoping that like your ds's teacher, my dd's new teacher doesn't have any preconceived notions about dd because of the old teacher.

dont u just LOVE that feeling!! this school asked alot of questions about ds so they could fit him for the right teacher. i beleive we have found her!!! its his 1st week and she has seen noooo hyper activity!!! she said the only thing going on with him is that he asks questions for everything. thing that he is allowed to do. like if he wants to go to the other side of the room or play with a certain thing or get a drink he will ask. to me thats not a big deal at all. he is just making sure to do the right thing. ds hasnt been in school since last oct/nov from us pulling him to homeschool b/c of a horrific teacher! so it will take him awhile to get used to all thie kids. also he is acting quite shy. totally different from last yr!!! i hope it lasts the whole yr and that we get a good teacher next yr. when i left the school today after she told me this i felt like i was dreaming!!!! good luck to u!! it sounds like u might have gotten the right teacher for ds!!
