if he does need to go up to 30mg i would just do it now. why did they say he needed to go up? if he is doing good u should keep him at 20mg. my son is at 30mg but they didnt offer the 20mg here. it did take him a little over a week to get his body adjusted to it. he has been taking it for almost 3 weeks. it takes about an hour or longer for it to start working for my ds also. we have to wake him up early and take it or he will be up really late at night and also he doesnt have much of an appetite. those are really the only side effects for us. oh and he does seem to be kind of shy now. if your ds had neck twitches with the other med i would watch for it with this one. mine has a sniff. he sniffs alot! but he does it way less now than he did while on concerta. my ds has been in school for a week now and i cant beleive how he is doing!! total 360 since he has had meds! mine also rarely has rebound and it lasts for a good 10-12 hours b4 it starts to wear off. well good luck to u and your ds! if u want to know anything else about our experience just ask!

My 10 yr old son has been on Vyvanse for over 1 year. we started at 30 for 8 months then moved to 50mg. We tried it because my son doesn't take pills well and you can open them up and put into food or water and is tasteless. MY SON IS PICKY! It has made a world of differece for him especially at school, like night and day. no rebound YAY! and with Melatonin (even before meds) He sleeps fairly well from 9-5:30.I highly reccomend this medication .
My son just started Vyvanse 20mg last Sunday. I have seen great improvement. We gave him the summer off. He was on Straterra and it stopped working (mid year) and the dose increases weren't working and then the Concerta wasn't working. So we pulled him off last May. He has gained 10lbs and a few inches in his height. He will be 13 in November and is 93lbs
