Hi, it's been over a year since I've been here. Looks like things have changed a bit. Good to see. We start school here after the long weekend. I still can't get my 12 year old to get to bed in decent time. Of course have to drag his butt out of bed in the am. Hope everyone has a great start to the year. Good Luck. Mrs Red
I have the same problem as you with my son. What makes it even more difficult is he almost grown and thinks he doesn't have to listen to his parents anymore.

Yep, school started today for my 9 yr old son as well. Happy to report that he woke up at 3 am, got dressed in his brand new clothes, and went back to sleep. I am trying something new this year. A book called "The Connected Child", which is about raising at risk kids (both of my children were adopted, have special needs) suggests going into their bedroom, sitting next to them, rubbing their back, and gently telling them that it is time to get up. I used to open the door and announce "time to get up!". My son is responding well to this new routine. Even better, my son's third grade teacher has a special education background. I was so very skeptical about sending him to a Catholic school, and I am here to tell ya that they have been outstanding in addressing his needs. We caught a break. I fully expect the next few months to be tricky, as they say it takes until October for kids to settle in. But we are on our way.|
