Methylin Chewable Tablet/Oral Suspension | ADHD Information

We give him a dose in the morning with breakfast and then the school has a stash when they see it is wearing off they can give him the other does. so far 1 pill seem sot last most of the day for him so they have only had to redose 1 or 2 times. we were told by the DR. 1 in the morning and 1 at lunch.

Does your son experience any side effects with this medication?

Has he been on any other meds other than this, if so, is it better, worse, same?

Also, how is he in the evening, is he able to continue his focus at evening things like homework (probably not much for a 5 yr old), after school activities etc.

Sorry to be prying so much, but I want to get as much info as I can

Has anyone tried this medication?  My 8 yr old son has been taking Adderall XR for the past 6 mos and we have had sucess with it as far as his ability to focus in school, but my problem lies with the battle that rages in our home every morning trying to get him to take his medicine.  He cannot seem to swallow pills, which is not uncommon so we use the Adderall XR so I can open it and put it in something.  We have been through a multitude of things, yogert, peanutbutter, cake frosting, pudding, you name it and he just has it in his head that it is going to taste and it ends up in a screaming match to get it down him every morning.

I just can't do it anymore....everyone leaves the house in tears every morning.  I try to keep control but I get so frustrated....its not fair to him, I try to understand but he is just so stubborn about it......

I see where they now have this new Methylin Chewable Tablet that I hope might be a solution for us.  I know that it will have to be taken in school also which I really didn't want to have to do...you know the stigma that gets attached to kid that have to go take their meds....but we can't keep going on like we are.

How long do the doses last....will the afternoon dose take him into the evening?

Any input I can get on this med would be greatly appreciated.

My 5 year old son takes the Methyln Chewable and it is grape flavored and works wonders we dont fight in the morning to take it (the down fall is it is not extended released so you need remedicate in the middle of the day). They also make the liquid.

Thanks for your input....how long do the doses seem to last?

this is the first medication that i could get into him 100%. He has no side effects so far and the ones that he had have gone away, stomach ache, headaches are gone.
