ADHD or ? | ADHD Information
For the past 2 years getting my son to do what is being asked in school is creating a problem. Son is 11 gets good consistent grades yet will not fully write down homework assignments, test dates etc. When asked what was discussed in classes sometimes the response will be "I don't remember". Recently a friend said that he may have adhd inattentive. What is this and how do I determine if he just doesn't want to do the work or is it because he is being lazy?
ADD (ADHD without the H "hyperactivity). It's a possibility, but you would
need to get him tested properly. I would contact a child psych. with
experience in this and get a proper evaluation. In the meantime, you can
look up lots of different organizational skills that you can work with him on
for school. ADDITUDE magazine is a great one for this and they have a
website www.additudemag.com
Whether or not he does have ADD, you can use these skills at school and
with his teachers to help him better organize his schoolwork, handing in
assignments, writing down assignments and school schedules, etc. See
what the teachers can do about emailing assignments or having them
posted on a website, etc.
