ADHD Known in 1854

Emily Dickinson wrote this in 1854

I felt a Cleaving in my Mind---
As if my Brain had split---
I tried to match it---Seam by Seam---
But could not make them fit.

The thought behind, I strove to join
Unto the thought before---
But Sequence raveled out of Sound
Like Balls---upon a Floor.

1854 I checked out ADHD on Wikipedia and there is even a quote written by an ancient greek which is obviously about an ADDer, so it goes further back than we thought. Yup, actually a textbook was recently discovered that includes a chapter that is CLEARLY about ADHD (although they used different terms), and it was written by a guy named Crichton in 1798. Tell that to the people who are convinced that ADHD is caused by TV.  Fictional characters go back thousands of years. Writers base their characters on how people behave. Possible characters with ADHD:

Huck Finn
Ulysses in "The Odyssey" and "Helen of Troy"
Mr. Micawber and Traddles in "David Copperfield"
The Artful Dodger in "Oliver"
Harald in "Testimony of Two Men"
Dan in "Little Men"
Jo in "Little Women"
Peregrin Took in "Lord of the Rings"
Katherina in "The Taming of the Shrew"

I once wrote a thesis proving Hamlet was bipolar
