We saw my son’s Dr. Friday (& a question) | ADHD Information

Share

We saw my son's ped on Friday, and after hearing some things I told her about, she decided to refer us to a Child Psychologist for an Assessment. We can't get in until after Sept. 22, when that Dr. gets back into town.

But I just wanted to ask, what kind of things happen at an assessment. I really don't know what to expect.

Thanks so much!

Usually at an assessment they will just ask you a lot of questions about your son't behavior.  They may have to fill out a survey type of paper that will help them determine how extreme his ADHD is, or what type he has or if he even has it.  It's usually just a prelim to get started.  He may want to talk to your child alone as well.  I wouldn't worry to much about it though. Our Assesment took 8 hours of the therapist spending time with My DS as well as some testing. we and the teacher had to fill out papers then they put together a comprehensive report. It took about 2 weeks to get the report.
