Do we need dosage increase of Vyvanse????

This is Day 2 of Vyvanse 20mg for my 6 1/2 yr old daughter.  She has done pretty well today, just a couple of emotional meltdowns.  I gave her Vyvanse at 7:30 this morning.  By 1:00PM, I had her at Target and she was skipping in the aisles.  At 3:30, she was skipping around the house and standing on her head.  We tried a small amount of homework at 4PM.  She threw her pencil when she got frustrated.  It's like she has no medicine in her.  Does this mean she needs a dosage increase to the 30mg or is it too early to tell?  I'm very interest to hear from her teacher tomorrow after school.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

sounds like she needs 30mg. i had my son on 30 and tried a lower dose just by emptying a little out of the capsules and noticed a huge difference. he is bouncing off the walls and fidgeting and acting really wild. i know he needs to go back to 30. on 30 he does not act like that. he listens very well and there are no signs of adhd. it doesnt wear off for 10-12 hours. with the lower it wears off 7 hours later. i think u should try the 30 and see if theres a difference.

It takes a couple of weeks to tell how it is going to fully work but you probably will need an increase to a higher amount.

My DS has been on 30mg for 8 months and we just upped it to 50mg and is working long and well.

yea could be too soon to tell..sounds like she needs an increase..altho..my son has only been takin it for 4 days now..and i can see a huge difference in him..its working fabulous..and im ecstatic at the results..he eats..sleeps..no rebound when he isnt on it..my son has ADD tho not ADHD..so he is not normally a hyperactive kid..he takes tihs for school and school only..because that is where the problem remains..he just cant focus..but he can now..and its just great.

Teacher said before lunch she could tell a difference.  She saw my dd go back and check her work to make sure she did it correctly, which she has never done before.  She seemed more focused.

But, after lunch, she said she was lethargic and zoned out.  She was not focused at all.  We just got home from school and she is in quite a grumpy mood.   I called her pediatrician.  They told me to give it until Friday, which will be Day 7.  If she is still this way, give them a call back.

Yea deff call if she still is...His teacher said he did much better today..she said he started gettin off task round 2pm..but he got himself back on..which is good...he did real well on his homework too when he got home..so far so good...i hope it works out for you..feel free to message me anytime..i know support is big right now..and we need all we can get

OK, last night was horrible.  She was bouncing off the walls all evening.  During homework, she threw her pencil, her book bag, and a shoe, then bit the couch in frustration and this was at 3:45 when the Vyvanse should have still been working.  My dad stopped by for about 15 minutes. He is the type that doesn't understand ADHD.  Even though he won't say it, I know he's the type that thinks if you bust their butts enough, they will be fine.  My dd made a scene and I had to ask my dad to leave.  He walked out the door angrily and I haven't talked to him since.

The doctor told me not to call until Friday if she's not better on the 20mg.  Is this considered rebound from not having a high enough dose.?  She is almost better off not taking anything if she is going to be like this in the evening.  I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!  Should I call the doctor now?

This is so new to me, I don't know what to do.

Just wanted to let you know that my son is 7 and had been on Adderall XR for the past two years, last week we switched him to Vyvanse 50mg, it took a week before we saw any indication of it working.  Now, works like a dream!!  He is so much easier to be around.wow..i wish i knew what to tell you to do...since this is my first time experience with meds..im bout in the same boat as you are...my son has been doin well on them right now..they seem to be wearing off round 3 or 4 i believe..but i cant really tell because there really isnt any change..but then again my son has ADD so he isnt hyper anyhow...the only issue i have right now iwht him..and he is doin better in that department is eating...he eats great bkfst..lunch not so good..but then has a snack when he comes home from school..good dinner and bedtime snack..which is actually if i think bout it..more than what he ate before meds lol..soo i dunno..but if this persists with ur daughter i dunno..if i was in your shoes..id be callin before friday because it seems that she is getting angry and im not sure what that means ..i wish i could be more helpAsk your doctor to go ahead and give you a trial of 30 mg. We started Vyvanse recently for our 6-year-old and our doc gave us both 20 mg and 30 mg to test. We tried 20 mg for about a week, but had some temper tantrums on the weekend so decided to try 30 mg. He was good with that at home, but when we sent him to school on MOnday on 30 mg, his teacher (who now knows our story) said she thought he seemed overmedicated on 30 mg. He was almost too focused and didin't interact with the other kids much. We noticed more rebound issues at 30 mg than 20 mg as well, with which we have hardly any rebound problems (just the slow start up in the a.m.) We've since stepped it back down to 20 mg and although he hasn't been perfect, the teacher agrees with us that at least for now this is the right dosage for him. She said at 30 mg he's great in the class from a disciplinary standpoint, but he's also missing out on other things when he's too focused. At 20 mg, he's not perfect every day but very manageable so she (and we) are able to try to teach him skills to help him make the right choices. But I definitely think you need to try 30 mg so you can judge, and tell/ask your teacher to do the same in the different environment. Good luck!!!Well, her pediatrician decided to try her on Strattera.  Please pray this works.  I am very hopeful...... AGAIN!  When she was diagnosed with ADHD by the psychologist, he also said she had a lot of anxiety.  The doctors seem to be ignoring the anxiety part of the equation.  I think the stimulants are making her behavior worse because it is making her anxiety worse.  Hopefully the Strattera will work
