How much methylphenidate do you take?

I am trying to find out what quantities of methyl phenidate  work for people.   Any form of methylphenidate is ok.

Other trade names are: Ritalin- (IR, LA, and SR), Concerta, Metadate- (CD and ER),  Methylin- (IR and ER) and Focalin- (IR and ER)

I take (2) 54 mg tablets of Concerta in the morning, and then 20 mg of methylphenidate 12 hours later.   The total amount is 128 mg/day.   I have been doing this for about 5 months with no problem.  I am 54 years old, 5'8" and weigh 160 lbs, that info may be helpful.

Please let me know how much methylphenidate works for you.  Thank you.

I'm currently prescribed Focalin IR, 30mg twice daily, 10 mgs once in late
afternoon for a total of 70mgs daily.

I also take 100mg Lamictal and 40mg Celexa in the morning, and 100mg
Seroquel at night.

I've been on Focalin, IR and/or XR, for the past 6 months. I found it to be
VERY helpful for the first few months, and mildly helpful after that. It's
effectiveness seems to decrease pretty fast, necessitating an increase in
dosage. I'm about to just let it go and move on to the next med.

I'm also a 5'8" 105lb female. elegy39715.8182523148

Elegy,  thank you very much for letting me know.   You are the first person out of about 500 people who have read this question (I put it in another post too) and responded.  So thank you.  Good luck with any new medications you may try.

My pleasure :)

I don't know if this will be of any assistance, but webmd states in their
Focalin(dexmethylphenidate) info page that the total daily dose is usually
20mg or less. I'm assuming this is based on adult dosing. Their
methylphenidate page, however, does not say anything about average
dosages.

You might get more responses if you post on a message board that's
specifically for psychiatric medications. I know of a great message board for
meds that I frequently visit. If you'd like to check it out, I can give you the
link in a PM. :)
