I am new to taking ADHD meds.  For quite some time I have admitted to myself that I have mild ADD.  I have finally realized that I don't have it mildly, but it consumes my life.  About 2 months ago I went to get help. 

The psychiatrist started me on 5mg of Ritalin 3x per day.  I only noticed a slight improvement.  But the biggest issue I had is when it was time for hte next dose, I got figity,irritable, and overwhelmed.  He switched me to Adderall XR.  He started me on 10mg and has slowly increased me to 30mg.

Basically, my question is, when I take the medicine how is it supposed to make me feel?  I don't really feel anything when I have taken it.  Possibly I might feel a little calmer and not so spazzed, maybe a little more methodical.  I still feel like it is difficult for me to stay on tasks, I get too bored, restless, or overwhelmed.  When the dose has worn off is when I notice a differerence.  When it has worn off it feels abrupt like my brain comes to a screeching halt then I feel all jumbled again can't concentrate, thoughts circling and swirling.  I could be talking mid-sentence and just feel my brain just stop- short circuit is what I have always called it-then I know the Adderall has worn off.

I also take Lexapro 10mg for generalized anxiety disorder.
