I am 28 yrs old, and was just diagnosed because I went to see a psychiatrist because I was having a difficult time greiving for the loss of a parent. I was not coping appropriately (according to me) and wanted to see if talking about it could help.
Instead, he diagnosed me with ADD. If fact, he looked at me with a completely deadpan face (he was not humerous at all, unfortunately) and told me I was a poster child for ADD. He told me that untreated ADD could hinder the greiving process because you could not focus on one emotion for long enough. Has anyone else had experience with this?
He put me on Focalin, and today is my first day. Besides a little shakiness, I don't notice too much difference. (In the time it's taken my to write this post, I've checked my email twice and made a phone call.)
Any thoughts?
