just be careful. Those 'B''s are a B for him. That's ok as obviously he can only be who he is, but you have a right to be cautious. It's all about the IEP and the goals. Does he reach his goals and are his goals reasonable and measurable. So when writing the annual goals make sure they are measurable, not just teacher observation and if you want him at grade level that should be your goal (if he can do that). It's complicated and you need a balance of what he CAN accomplish and what he is accomplishing. STILL you deserve to be proud! Good for him for making an overall improvement.I got Mac's report card and IEP report for the 1st 6 weeks....and he got straight.....B's! His IEP was better than last years, but still he needs alot of improvement in everything, but stated that it predicted/expected him to reach the goal by end of year. So yeah, Im happy, lavished the praise on him and I really am proud. He got nearly straight F's last year and was STILL passed to 2nd grade...so to go to B's this year in the 1st 6 weeks...well....I was gushing lol. But ive seen his grades! I was fully expecting a TERRIBLE report card! Was bracing myself for the worst....so wth is going on here? I mean I KNOW they grade and a sliding scale for the IEP but STILL...I dont get it. Anyone else have this happen? I need to schedule parent teacher conferences and will deffinately bring it up there. His over all problem seemed to be...big shocker here...inability to concentrate and complete assignments. Imagine that would ya now.....He's on 54 mg of concerta...he's no longer the "bad" kid in class ...causing trouble and being sent home early. We were over that by the end of kindergarten once we got his meds figured out. He has become the SWEETEST little boy....eager to learn and a pleasure to work with...all his teachers say so...but he still cant concentrate.....wonder what can be done about that? Any suggestions?
