I have noticed over the past 2-3 weeks that my Strattera doesnt seem to be working very well. I have been on it for roughly a year and a half now and have had no real complaints until lately. I dont notice so much a problem with impatience (which was awful prior to medications), but I do notice that my impulsivity and my ability to focus and my hyperfocus are going back to where they were prior to medications. WHY??? I dont know what to do and I am scared to try anything else. I have already tried adderall and it gave me terrible acne...and I was still a spaz. I dont know what to do for myself, but my work is suffering and I am completely baffled and scared.I don't have experience with Strattera as my ds takes stimulant meds. You
might need an increase in dosage. Just call your dr. There are also several
other stim. meds that may not have the same side effects as Adderall. My ds
did bad on Adderall, but the Ritalin line of meds works for him.I am also on Strattera and need it to be able to work. What do you do if it isnt working, or wrong dosage, Is your doctor good? Mine is not so I would go back to the clinic that prescribed it to me in the first place if things started going pear shaped in the hope that they could sort it out. Maybe there is a university clinic in your area or a bigger hospital with lots of experience where they would have an idea. Iwould suggest using the phone first to check out their experience of ADD.
has your weight changed much? Strattera is weight based, although less touchy with adults than kids.
My daughter used to be on Strattera alone, and it did fizzle out some over time. We added a low dose stimulant and it's been good. The Strattera allows us to use a much lower dose stimulant and that keeps her side effects at bay.
