What you do when medication doesnt work? | ADHD Information
I have tried many medications in many doses and nothing seems to work each time I go in my doc changes something thinking it will help but i havent noticed any improvement and was woundering if anyone was in the same situation and found a solution.Well, the first question would be are you sure you're allowing enough time to make sure the med has a chance to work? Also, do you have a med that starts to work but then loses it's efficacy soon after trying it? If that's the case, it might be that it's the right med, just not the right dosage.
Or, maybe there are other issues in play that are yet undiagnosed and in order to fully manage your care, you need someone to run more tests, etc.
I would say to seek out a psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD and similar issues and see if you can get your care better managed.
Well you might want to look into
clinical trials if none of the standard meds are working for you.
Not all medications work on all people. And some medications can be downright kooky if you have ADHD.
I took valium one time and I was totally hyper for days
What do you mean by "don't work". You get nothing? Or you get weird side-effects? Or sock head that increases the ADHD?
they are free trials where they are doing a study on the med so u get to try it for free. u dont need insurance to do it u just have to find a place that is doing it. some places will even pay u to be in there study. u said something about depression also. have u tried any anti depressants. sometimes those work well with stimulants to help treat adhd. sorry i dont have any advice. i would maybe try a higher dose of a med if it wasnt doing anything at all on the dose u started at. good luck to u.

As far as a specialist in adhd there are none within travel distance of where i live i have checked. As far as other conditions other than deperession i do not believe there would be any i have looked into the other comorbids but dont think any others aply.
