All my kids are very flexiable. It is amazing some of the things they can do.
Oldest daughter ADHD, not gifted
Middle Son Possable ADD not gifted
Youngest daughter Dosen't have either and not gifted
Thanks for the response. It's interesting to see the connections. My daughter is very flexible too. Actually, both my kids can do the thing that you mentioned (touching toes to hip). Actually, so can I! I figured it was just genetic... It's definitely not genetics in my case
! I'm doing good to sit Indian-style, much less twist like she does. I was talking to a lady in my church the other day who has a daughter the same age as mine (9 1/2) and we started comparing not just symptoms, but physical traits as well. For instance, both of our daughters are extremely flexible, to the point where they stand with one leg bent behind them, then they grab their foot and bring it forward so that their toes almost touch their hips
!! This mother is a nurse, and she said she was wondering about oxygen deprivation, b/c some CP patients have similar muscular issues.
Also, I know my daughter was tested in 1st grade and made it into gifted. Sometimes I think part of her problem is that her mind works so fast the rest of her body is racing to catch up.
I was just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences.
my daughter has a connective tissue disorder and is also EXTREMELY flexible. Joints are connective tissue.
She is not, however, gifted, she actually has a couple of learning disabilties along with her ADHD.
I just thought I would say - even with dance and Tae Kwon Do my kids are not very flexible. My ds however just tested in the 99th percentile for math and reading. Now that his meds are right he is just flying through 3rd grade. It is great to hear my dh brag to his parents. Of course, they now think his behavior issues are just because he was bored. (they don't believe in ADHD) LOL!
Just my $.02,
lsaniga39753.2839236111Great to hear it! We have an appt. next week to try and get my dd's meds regulated. Hopefully her grades will come up when we do.
