I've been taking adderal xr for about... 8 years now... I think. Its really helpful. Like a lot of medications for ADHD, it decreases your appetite, so she may not eat as much as she does when she doesn't take it. I would sugest not having her take it on weekends or over the summer. Most books that you read about ADHD will also sugest that you take "medication vacations". It may increase her heart bit too. When I was little I noticed that my heart beat was a little fast, now I know that it was because of my meds. Now I'm taking 15 mgs and my heart starts racing sometimes (I think its around the time when it starts to wear off). We switched back from 10 to 15 a few times because of this, but I decided to stay on 15 because my grades were better then I took the 15. I have to keep a close watch on my heart rate though, but I haven't really been doing that. But all medications have their side effects.

Anyway, I was hoping to hear success stories. Anyone have any on adderall?
hi aboutiori,
it's nice your daughter's doctor started out with a nice, low dose... it may take some time, and increasing the dose, to find out if it works and how well it works, but starting low and going slow is definately the way to go, especially with a child, who isn't as able as adults to know what's going on. I used adderall xr for over two years and liked it a lot for it helped me a lot...I recently switched to Vyvanse, partially out of curiousity and partially because I wanted to have a change of meds. But I'd go back to adderall xr without hesitation. hope it works for your daughter.
