my ds is 7yrs old and he has been on vyvanse 30 mgs for a few months. when he first started taking it he would have tons of energy right after he took it and for an hour and a half. it was like he drank a pot of coffee. then all the sudden he would sit down and say he was very tired and he seemed really quiet and tired for most of the day. but he couldnt fall asleep at night. i dont remember when that went away but i would say atleast 2 weeks he acted tired. the burst of crazy energy for over an hour was only the fisrt few days. for night we had to give him melatonin to get him to bed on time but now he takes gaunfacine and has no trouble sleeping. he doesnt seem very tired throughout the day now. i should keep a journal so i can remember these things!! it is strange for these meds to make them tired but look at how much they calm them down!! my son used to be excessively hyper but now with the meds he can actually sit still and watch a movie.

Thanks Kim. I am glad I'm not crazy. I think I will ask his doctor about this.yah its pretty strange when they arent bouncing off the walls. they act like a normal kid without adhd on meds and its like omg are they ok?! bc we are soo used to them being a certain way. i like how vyvanse works for mine too. we still have some issues but overall it works great. still have to let them be kids too! the first few weeks of school were very odd to me bc he actually didnt have any probs or bad reports. never had a full week of that let alone a few in a row!!
