Learning disorders and reading? | ADHD Information
My daughter is in K (she was retained). Along with ADHD, she has a delay in handwriting, in which she's receiving OT for this.
The teacher and I noticed that she is struggling with reading. She feels that she should have progressed more than she has. For example, she had a homework assignment where she had to draw a line between the words. She struggled greatly with this, and got very upset. I'd put my finger to show her and she'd draw the line nowhere near my finger. Her vision has been checked and is fine.
Does anyone have any ideas and/or suggestions?
I was talking to her about her reading and she mentioned that when she reads, the words swirl around and disappear.. has anyone heard about this? Any ideas?
I suggest that you have your have your daughter examined by a developmental optomitrist to rule in or out a visual perception many disorder which has nothing to do with eye sight but it is a learning disorder. There are other learning disorders as well that can cause similar symptoms and if this was my child this is the next step I would take. Hope this helps. Luvmykids0239749.5798263889
