Yoplait Yogurt - Looking for suggestions | ADHD Information

Eating Yoplait yogurt really seems to set my daughter off.   She'll be wired and bouncing off the walls for hours after eating it.   I've been thinking it is due to the high fructose corn syrup in it - but other things with HFCS doesn't seem to have the same effect.  I don't think it's a dairy intolerance as milk, cheese and ice cream are ok.

Anyone have other ideas as to what might be in it that she could be reacting too?

For those with kids that react to HFCS - how long does it usually take to work out of their systems.

Thanks.
Check to see if there is any food coloring in the flavors she eats... that could be the issue.

Check the ingredients.  Are there any dyes or colors?  Artificial flavors?  Is the flavor a fruit that is a high salicylate fruit?  The HFCS could also be an issue.  Preservatives could be a problem as well.  With any of these items the reaction could be immediate, delayed or only happen if she has a build up of the offending item.  Reactions can last for a few hours to a few days.  It depends on so many things.  If that yogurt is the only thing that you notice causes a behavior issue, then stop using that yogurt and try another brand.  Dyes, artificial colors and flavors will cause my DS to bounce off the walls.  Some foods naturally high in salicylates are a problem as well for him.  He can eat certain brands of vanilla yogurt and lemon yogurt without a problem.  If you can find a vanilla yogurt that doesn't bother her you could then add your own fresh fruit.  I know all of this isn't much help (too many variables), but if yogurt is the only offending item I would just remove that brand and try another.  Maybe that way you can find the offending item.  We do the Fiengold program here.  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.  Good luck!try stonybrbrook. Our kro carries it. only natural stuff and its kid good, so they eat it.  good luck
