Meds are not working!!! | ADHD Information

My 9yo son was diagnosed on July 18th and we started on Concerta.  4 different dosings up to 54 and NOTHING.  then Vyvanse which made him sick to his stomach.  We went to Focalin at 10mg, now we are at 15mg and still NOTHING.  I see zero change.  Everyone I have talked to about meds has said that there is a significant change almost immediately.
I know there is no "magic pill"  I know it can take a while to find the right med.  But my son is so impulsive and getting in trouble at school daily.  His self esteem is suffering.
I am getting so discouraged

Hang in there. You may need to look at the non stimulants such as strattera or the third tier meds such as quanfacine (which works on impulsivity/hyperactivity and not as much for attention). What kind of doc is he seeing for med management? A psychiatrist is more experienced with med managment than a pediatrician and will work with higher doses and different meds than a ped will.

I know this is hard for both of you. It will get better.

He is seeing a behaviorist pediatrician as a part of the clinic that specializes in ADHD, Asberger's and Autism.  they told me it might be a long process of finding something that makes a difference.  They also prepared me for the remote possibility that nothing will work.  As much as I don't want to medicate my kid, I realize that if it helps him, everything will be better.  Please let the solution come sooner rather than later....!!!
