After listening to peoples comments on medicine's that worked for them or thier child and didn't work and the results gotten I didn't expect a lot of difference in my son once he started his med's. The doctor placed him on Adderall 5mg tablets twice daily. I at first was expecting a zombie child or very little difference at all. Boy was I wrong. We've had a little bit of adjusting in time's he get's his medications but now we seem to be on target, after speaking to his teacher she said that Joey has been a great kid to have in class these past two weeks. We are no longer seeing the ADHD we are seeing his mind working for him. He can sit still and do small group time as well as sit in circle time as well without distrating or being a distraction. He at 4 is seeing a difference he's being invited to friends houses to play which didn't happen befor. He reminds us every moring that he needs to take his medication. His therapist asked him why he remembers it and he told her because he can play better now and his friends at school like him. None of which any one has said to him. He is obviously seeing a difference in himself which I didn't expect a 4 year old to be able to do. I know every not every drug works with every child but I can say that I'm happy to see the improvement in my child. He is happy which is all that matters to me.
Makes you want to cry, doesn't it? Glad you've found the solution for your baby! I know that it's what every parent is hoping for when making the choice to go with meds I'm thankful that it's worked for us. To see my son reaching his potential is wonderful and we havent had to lose his goofy side either. We have however made the choice to take him off meds while he's not in school his little brain is still developing and I'd like him to learn to some day manage it without meds for now this works and I'm glad my doctor chose the right medication for my son. That is exactly the way I felt when we started Concerta last year. Mine was 4 at the time. School and playing are so much easier for him. It was sad when he couldn't even play with toys from the frustration!
