does tv worsen add symptoms? | ADHD Information
All i have to do during my consious hours is go to the gym for 1 hour, school work 1 hour, the rest of my non sleeping hours are watching tv, I know thats strange but i have no alternative, i try to read books (obviously that doesnt get far), no car to go anywhere, but anyways could this be significantly affecting my attention span? I am really at a loss as to how to fix this grave attention problem, and while i cant change my life style now I may in the future if watching 16+ hrs of tv music vid games a day has a major role in it.
I don't know where you live or what your situation is, but there are lots of things you can do besides watching tv.
go to the library (even if reading is difficult, there's newspapers and magazines which don't require sustained attention)
go for a walk, take up a sport, learn how to take pictures, get some books on tape, go to the mall and window shop, learn how to cook something fancy that you've never tried before, join an ADD support group...anything but get out of the house!
I'm not sure if you're a man or a woman but if you're a woman, i could come up with a zillion more ideas. if you're a man, sorry - I'm a woman.
but there are lots of things you can do to ease your attention problems. i'm sure other people will have some ideas too.
i have no transportation to go to the library or anything else, i ride my excersize bike 30 min on some days, lift weights daily for 45+ min, all the other things are pretty much out to. i do manage to force myself to read 10 pages every other day but other than reading computer stuff and tv (and college work which i can maby do a few pages every other day) other than that there is nothing. however my main question is how much does it hurt.
