Concerta and aggerssion? Help! | ADHD Information

My ds is 10 years old now and has been on the concerta 54mg (which was upped to 54 at start of school) with a ritalin kicker in the am, for about 5 months. He was on just the Ritalin twice a day but went to the longer acting, shortly before schooll. I have noticed in the evnig after meds are wearing off he seems to get aggresive. Mostly verbal (swearing) and angry with physical threats.  This has been happing for the last two weeks.

He got really mad at his aunt that was babysitting last week. He bit her on the arm and swore at her! He would act like this before meds or theripy! We stopped therapy because of insurance change. A year  or more ago! Maybe we need to visit that again. He has been treating sister ands brother like this also! (5 & 2)

Has anyone else noticed this? Any advice out there?

If it's happening at the same time every day and not event-related, I'd say the meds are weirdly and to tell your doc. Keep a running note on your computer desktop and see if it's related.

I'm on Ritalin SR and I find I tend to get weird fluctuations just as the med wears off. It only lasts 8 hours tops.

Maybe he needs a small late afternoon or dinner dose?
Sound very much like the situation I was in last fall with my daughter - who was 10 at the time and in 5th grade.   Afternoons and evenings were just terrible.   It was almost like going back to her pre-medication behavior.   We found there were two main contributing factors - anxiety and needing a medication increase.    As her anxiety level increased,  her behavior went down hill pretty quickly.   In her case,  school was harder than the previous year and she was not comfortable on the basketball team she was playing on.    We with some trial and error - we finally figure out that she needed a dosage increase.  That helped a great deal with our evening issues.  We also started working with a therapist at the same time.  The combination of the two was great and we go things back under control.
HorseMom39771.5679861111 Thanks guys for the advice! We got new net service so I haven't been on till now! The med increse has worked. Also adding a snack and being faithful with the Reliv shakes helped alot too. He did gain 3 lbs in 6 weeks with the shakes hopre it keeps up!!
