sincirely kathrine... from british columbia, canada well i know what you feel like cuz i am depressed too ... there is a medication called st-johns wort . it cost 30 $ . tell me what age you are and whats making you depressed and i will help you more as soon as i knowLife is a war zone. Each person feels so alone misplaced and or targets of hostility and misery, both physical and mental...but, hey, we are all in this together. Humor, al oving hug, great music, a breath of fresh air, and a heart full of dreams can go a long way. If we can just help each other just a little bit, it makes our own struggle much more tolerable. It's not a matter of lowering expectations or some degree of "maturity " that we attain...I trully believe that God's grace and mercy transforms disappointment and regret into joy and hope. Not the fairy Godmother type of supernaturality.. Its more like getting pulled up from under the water. Depression can be so isolating. Personally, I fight back. What do you think? Depression seems to be one of a lot of people's biggest problem. Although I haven't find myself to that level, at least not yet, My best advise to you guys is not to disregard the natural treatment of depression. I am sure everyone has something he/she likes to do best, use that something as a remedy to your depression. Go to the gym, play your favorite sport, listen to music, go to a friend, even a phone call to an old friend can make a big difference. Go on a cruise, to a show. Just do something beside laying in bed, or thinking of how it would be best to kill yourself. get up and do something fun, I promise you, it will help. Go out there , make some new friends who are not depressed, the mall is a cool place Life is beautiful, enjoy it.I wasn't depressed until my doctor who insisted I was put me on antidepressants. I kept saying I'm getting worse or this isn't working and she'd raise the dose or put me on another antidepressant. HELLO I wasn't depressed. Anyway long story short the meds messed me up big time. Finally I had it with this doctor stopped taking the meds and slowly got better. It took me almost two years to get anywhere near close to being able to function. All thanks to meds I didn't want or need. I was young and stupid and just figured if the Doc says I need them I must need them. I learned the hard way on that one.
COME TO MY CHRISTIAN MB!!! FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Hello my name is kathrine... I've been wanting to talk to somebody in a long time about depression... But I just can't talk to my family about it I jut can't...! If enybody wants to contact me to talk about it... please... My e-mail is kathrinedeschamps@hotmail.com sincirely kathrine... from british columbia, canada
Dear Kathrine: THIS IS KIND OF A DETAILED MESSAGE...BUT IMPORTANT. I don't know how old you are, but depression (if it is a chemical imbalance problem) gets progressively worse as you get older. I have been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and borderline personality disorder. I am now 35 years old, in psychotherapy, on a metric ton of medications, mood stabilizers, anxiety medications (Xanax, daily), and to top it all off, I have had bulimia for 7 years, since the birth of my daughter. All of the behavioral and mental problems began when I was only 6 years old. My parents had me on Ritalin then but took me off of it very quickly because of my "zombie-like" behavior and violent outbursts. It made me much worse. If you are young, adolescent, teen, young 20's, serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) or MAOI's are usually prescribed. STAY AWAY FROM THE RITALIN The first, important, step you need to take is to go to your family doctor for some blood tests to find out if there IS a chemical imbalance. See your family physician or a psychiatrist. If you do have chemical deficiencies, they will medicate you. I went through many different medications and dosages before they found the right one, this is typical for most people. The second step, if you do not have chemical deficiencies, then your next step would be to find a good PSYCHOLOGIST. (Psychiatrists prescribe meds, Psychologists talk). Talk through you all of your thoughts, feelings, emotions, mood swings, anxiety issues, trouble with sleep, concentration. Tell them EVERYTHING!!! It is for your benefit...DO NOT LEAVE ANY DETAILS OUT. Even tell them about your dreams. Dreams, for someone with depression, can reveal a lot more than you think to a trained physician. I was very surprised - it works. Whether you take my advice or not just make sure that you evaluate your own depression by making a "scale" from 1-10; 1 - you are having an "emotionally stable" day (feeling pretty good, active, social). 5 - Becoming increasingly withdrawn from the world around you and having a more "emotionally unstable" and mood shifts from happy to sad to mad/angry then back to being happy or even overly happy. This is a real good sign that you may have a chemical imbalance. Then, finally, 10 - you cannot control any emotions you are having. You are facing a complete emotional breakdown, even having suicidal thoughts. If you get into the 6-10 range it is time to see a doctor. You will be happy that you did. Take care of yourself, Kathrine. Just remember one more important thing - with the workings of a chemically deficient and imbalanced brain can trick us, easily. It will make you feel things you don't usually feel and make things seem "unbearable" when they really are. Take time to think about your feelings before reacting badly to something. Once upon a time I was on Zoloft, Lithium, and Valium. Guess what? That was over 6 years ago...I was supposed 'depressed'. I find that I was because I was in a marriage that I only married the man for MONEY. Haaa! Got a divorce; met a wonderful man that helped me to get off everything...Now; happily married I still have days that I feel depressed; but I think it's only NORMAL feelings. I do think we all feel depressed at some stage in our life; provided we have the time. G'luck to you all. I do find that 'happiness' is a KEY factor. If you're NOT happy then your more likely to become depressed. I too was diagnosed bi-polar....well; did it just go away? Dunno...but don't medicate anymore and haven't seen a Dr. since I quit taking all those meds...hi all my name is kris i am 18 m and ilive in rotherha m with my dad i have adhd I have been thru the depression issue. At first i had no idea what was going on. i was going nuts emotionally during my seperation from my ex husband.i was crying all the time and could not handle stress anymore. i have been thru a few meds and finally found one that really has helped me get back to feeling like a normal chipper person.the med that my dr tried me on is Effexor which is also a migraine pill.it has brought me back to my old self and i am happy all over again.
there are many kinds of depression. ... A few depressive hours can be helped by isolating less and doing more. It can also be depression related to hormonal changes, especially for females. BUT if the depressiveness is unrelieved for a long time... days and weeks.... then you can't take ideas on the net... go see a doctor AND a therapist. Most serious depressions can be helped by getting to the core issues with a therapist. if that doesnt' work, low doses of meds can get the chemicals in the brain to stabilize and then you can work the underlying issues with better coping skills....
Joyous56 This is the 'reason' that I said that being HAPPY is a KEY FACTOR. Still ugh?
I did not say "ugh", I said "huh"...which is a question, as in I don't understand the point of the sentence "If you're NOT happy then your more likely to become depressed.", which I also quoted. My point was simply that that statement kinda seems obvious to me; depression is synonymous with not being happy, isn't it? It is like saying that if you're not tall then you're likely to be short....see what I mean? Anyway, I just realized that Katherine hasn't been around in over a year and may not care either way. Sorry....I just didn't understand what you were trying to say.
Joyous56 Hey Joy, how'd you end up in here? I was bored so went looking. Anyway, I just

Hi, we are living in Europe (in Croatia) and we are having problems with getting a doctor who could make a diagnosis our child has ADHD. He has been dygnosticed by a private doctor, but that does not seems to be enough, therefore we have problems in school when we want to explain to teachers what he is suffering from and even a dygnosis in writen was not enough. They said "she is doctor with private ordination. They can write whatever you want if you pay them". We really do not know what to do. Thank you, Sindi Welcome Sindi, You may want to try reading in the alternative threads. If you can't find a doctor who is helping you, you may want to read as much as you can on your own. There are many links provided to help you. If you have any trouble please PM me and I'll do my best to direct you. http://www.adhdnews.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=16

Hello my name is kathrine...
I agree with you Dave!!! lol Depression is depressing. Has any one tried super food nutrition supplement and has it helped at all?TROLLS IN HERE ARE NOT AS THEY APPEAR
I used to take st. johns wort, to deal with my depression. It really seemed to have a reverse effect on me though. Ive also taken a multivitamin called the supermood food which contains st johns wort. I am now taking "the greatest vitamin in the world", sure it sounds really cheesey, but it does the trick. I feel better both physically and emotionally, a friend of mine told me about it. at first i was skeptical, and also the price was kind of high, but there was a 30 day $ back guarantee, so I tried it. Ive been using it for quite some time now and it is worth every penny.
Dont listen to him this is a scam this product is sold to people throught infommericals so the people that buy it can sell it online I trully believe that God's grace and mercy transforms disappointment and regret into joy and hope. [UNQUOTE] Coupled with one's determination to beat the odds, God's grace certainly does enable one to rise above the circumstances. I've proved it in my life many a time, having 'been to hell and back' more than once, during my psycho-emotional growth and readjustment from dysfunctional past; little or no available outside support/understanding at the time. SORRY YOU DISLIKE MY OPINIONS CAUSE WE DON'T AGREE ON IT ALL.WE ALL HAVE ARE RIGHT TO SEE IT HOW WE WANT TO. MEDS. ARE NOT THE ONLY ANSWER. DIFFERENT SCHOOLING CAN HELP ALSO. I JUST WANT TO SEE THE KIDS GET THE HELP THEY NEED/DESERVE. MANY WRONG DX'S DO HAPPEN ALSO. TO ME THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN EITHER. THE KIDS ARE WHAT COUNT.
TROLLS IN HERE ARE NOT AS THEY APPEAR
WHAT?! I'm confused! (A letter written by AA Co-founder Bill Wilson in 1960)

A Way Out Of Depression
Durring acute depression, avoid trying to set your whole life in order at once. If you take on assignments so heavy that you are sure to fail them at the moment, then you are allowing yourself to be tricked by your unconscious. Thus you will continue to make sure of your failure, and when it comes you will have another alibi for still more retreat into depression.
In short, the 'all or nothing' attitude is a most destructive one. It is best to begin with whatever the irreducible minimums of activity are. Then work for an enlargment of these--day by day. Don't be disconcerted by setbacks--just start over. Don't be disconcerted by setbacks--just start over. just start over. ..start over. I love the fact that we are able to vent. in this messge board area. What I do not like is that we are all so far apart from each toher. I would love it if a large group of ADD/ADHD folks could get together for the pure hell of it. Not for an educational, medical, or any type of super organized event. Just to get together with no set schedule to be here...go there, at this time, at that time etc. etc. Almost like a woodstock of ADD/ADHDers Hey... brain storm happpening right there. Wouldn't that be cool...all of us 100% free for the day. Come and go as we please. No rime or reasom...just knowing that we are all there...thousands of us laughing out loud for no particular reason. Do you feel like I do?? Let's get something going...I'm in :) Peace to all of you and me a like. I wonder if that could ever happen? We tried to organize Hahaha! ADHDers organize!? a get together once. I am a med student and I do appreciate this website. Keep it up! __________________ |
