Hi all
I just started my son on vyvanse and 30 mg was too much so we went to 20 mg and it is still too much. I read that you can disolve the contents of the capsule in a glass of water. What if I did this and took out half of the water would he then be getting 10mg and is this safe?
thanks
sherri
Sherr:HI all- Thank you all for your replies. To answer bjohnson question why I thought it was too much here were his symptoms, he just sat on the couch zoned out all day, he had a glazed look in his eyes, he cried at everything. That was on 30mg then he went to 20mg and I was still seeing some of this symptoms so I opened the 20mg capsule disolved it in 2 ounces of water and took half the liquid out to make it around 10mg. I did this for about six days. Today I gave him the full 20mg and he had an EXCELLENT day with no side effects he even ate all of his lunch. I think he just needed to start out a little bit slower then most kids. He is very sensitive to medication. I hope the excellent days stay. Good luck to you if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. This was a very hard decision for us to medicate and I too wanted to know all I could about meds.

Just out of curiosity what were the symptoms that made you think it is too much. We started vyvanse about 5 days ago and I am trying to research all I can?You theoreticaly can make 20mg into around 10 but I think you should discuss this with thour rx'ing doc. 10 mg is very low for Vyvanse they may have another suggestion.
