I just recently got prescribed with Concerta 18mg for a week and then switched to 36mg after the week was through. I defintely noticed a change from day one, but I don't really like the way it makes me feel. I get an enormous boost of energy, which is wonderful, and it has improved my attention span, but I feel as if I am a totally different person, in a bad way. My mind goes 1000 miles a minute, I speak faster and end up jumbling my words, and when I type I make many many typos that I would normally not make. I can't even think about relaxing until my meds begin to wear off, after about 12 hours; then I crash HARD.
This is the first time I have been on meds in over 10 years, and chose to do so because I went back to school and figured it would help. I spoke to my mother, and she said when I was on Ritalin as a child and young adult, I would say I hated taking it because I didn't like the way it made me feel.
Is this normal? Are any of you on meds that work well, but don't make you feel strange or feel medicated? I would be open to trying out different meds if my Dr. wants me to, but if they are all going to make me feel strange, what's the point? I want to have a better attention span, but not at the expense of being a different person. I have to admit, there have been days that I haven't taken them because I just want to feel normal. I haven't called the doctor yet due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but I plan to do so early next week. I just figured that I would post here to try to find out if what I'm feeling is normal.
Thanks in advance for any replies, and I hope you all had a great Turkey Day!!
ubergoober39781.4765856481That's not the correct medication for you. Or the dose may be too high.
Haha!! That's too funny! Ever get flashbacks?! lol
