Vyvanse and increased heart rate | ADHD Information

The side effect usually wear off in 2 weeks or so and full effect is found at 3-4 weeks. You are on the smallest dose of Vyvanse. We have been on for just over 1 year and we are going to go with something different, This one was not for us but let's hope it all works out well for you. I loved it in the begining.Wait and see if the side effects decrease then see what you want to do.

You've waited this long so a bit longer shouldn't be too bad.

And yes, it's hard not to obsess but you're not doing them a favour if you're all freaked out and worried

My son was recently diagnosed with adhd and placed on vyvanse 20mg daily. The effect it has had on his attention span is wonderful and it has decreased his impulsive behavior. However he is now very emotional. He also complains of increased heart rate and nausea at times. He has only been on the med for about 5 days but I could see an immediate improvement in behaviors. Does anyone have similar experiences with vyvanse? Should the symptoms decrease over time?

Talk to your doc. A lower dose may be indicated or perhaps a change to Adderal or another stimulant with less side effects. Thanks for the suggestions- I guess I'm just a little lost trying to find the correct med. It seems like the Vyvanse he is on wears off to early. I am afraid to up the dose because of the increased heart rate at times, but the doc assures me most side effects go away within 2 wks. He has had no problems with insomnia or decreased appetite so far so thats something to be thankful for. When I was making the decision to try meds the side effects of course are what you worry about. I am obsessed with these awful stories you read about the effects ranging from N/V to cardiac arrest. I know you can't believe everything you read but its hard not to obsess when it comes to your kids.
