| Early Evening Fatique | |||
| |
Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has or had this experience. I get really tired between 6pm and 7pm. I can't stay focus on anything and all I wind up doing is lying down for awhile and getting up feeling somewhat better. I still have a difficult time reading or working on the computer and normally just watch tv rather than trying to concentrate on a book or the computer. I get up at 4am, work from 7am to 3:30 pm, and then workout between 4pm and 5pm. When I get home I will have something to eat and then I get really fatiqued like I said. The are things that I would like to do in the evening but this problem is really interfering with my plans. I take 2 doses of 30mg each of Adderall. One around 6am and the other around 12pm. I also take 300mg of Wellbutrin and 40mg of Celexa with my first dose. I would appreciate any feed back if you have had this experiecne. I have thouhgt about asking my docter if is okay to increase my afternoon dose, but I am not sure if it is a medication issue. Besides I think his opinion is that I am already at the upper limits of what he would prescribe for me. Thanks, Choygal Firstly, you're doing a lot. Being tired after a day like that is normal. Secondly, it's likely that the stimulant meds are wearing off a tad faster due to the exercise, so you're getting in 6 hours instead of 8 on the second dose. Your best bet, since you know that's the pattern--is to not plan anything important or strenuous during that time. MetisRebel, Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't realize that I was doing a lot, actually I didn't think I was doing anymore than anyone else so I did not think that was a problem. I hear or see people who work, exercise and then pursue their passion after that. I always wondered how they could do that. For instance you might hear of someone writing a book or screenplay or doing something else that takes a lot of their spare time, but are able to do it. Sometimes I think about getting a part time job but because of the way I feel in the evening it would make my life more difficult than it is now. Last night I thought I would take my medication 4 times instead of two. So I will try that today and see how I feel. I check back on how it works for me. Sincerely, Choygal The one thing that came to mind when I read this was your diet. Are you getting enough protein through out the day and how much is in the meal after you workout. It certainly isn't the majority no matter what the magazine articles pump out monthly.You have to remember too--the people talked about in those articles are not struggling with a disorder that can exhaust them [like a salmon swimming upstream] when they are organizing. They have high concentration without fighting to get it--thus using up internal resources. I often worked 2-3 jobs when I was younger and unmedicated. However, I could never keep that pace going for more than a few months. It was more about burning hyperness than actually caring about the work. It was unhealthy and unbalanced. I think you should be very proud that you've kept up your exercise. That's a big hurdle for an ADHD'er ![]() Sometimes I think about getting a part time job but because of the way I feel in the evening it would make my life more difficult than it is now. Sincerely, Choygal Let us know if spreading out your meds helps! [/QUOTE]Choygal- I totally understand the evening fatigue. I just started back on 15mg 2x day of adderall and had to change my workout schedule dramatically. I was working out 5x week for about 60 min after work (8:15-5:30), but then started the adderall and was feeling very fatigued. So I changed it to higher intensity and longer workouts 3days a week and its helped. Also for me, when I hold off taking my 2nd dose until an hour later sometimes I seem to have more energy. But most all Ive learned to wait until the adderall has work off to work out so you dont get that false sense of energy that your supposed to get from food. hope this helps. I used to get this a lot too -- How are you sleeping/how much are you sleeping at night? I don't know if it's ADHD related, or Sleep Apnea/Hypersomnia related, but you *might* (maybe maybe maybe, if you can do so without financial issues. I'm in the Army so it was all free) want to check with your doctor about a sleep study. I'm not a doctor, I'm just offering advice from what I went through earlier this year -- Once they'd gotten me the CPAP machine for my apnea, I don't have issues at all with getting tired after work (And my day's pretty full, too - get up at 5:30, work out for an hour, work from 9-5). Probably /not/ any sleep-related things, but you might try catching a few more zzz's for a week or so and seeing how that affects things, OR maybe try switching the time you work out from after work to before work (I know, I know, I know -- I'm not a morning person either, but it can help you "wake up" a bit faster). I wish you the best! |
