Vyvanse update and Focalin/antacid Q | ADHD Information
I was last on this board about a year ago when my 10 year-old son was switching from Focalin XR (which has worked well for him for a few years but has horrible rebound) to Vyvanse.
We had to quit the Vyvanse after a few months. The emotional lability was awful, even worse than when we tried Adderall and Concerta (and they were pretty bad). He was miserable, poor kid.
So it was back to Focalin, where at least he's happy, if somewhat nutso in the early mornings.
Now he takes 20mg Focalin XR two times a day. Obviously he didn't start out taking this much, but it built up over the past few years, and unfortunately he's been taking it for so long that even this large dose is starting to not last very long... we only get about five hours per dose nowadays.
I've been reading some anecdotal evidence about antacids making focalin last longer (something about stomach acid and absorbtion rate). Anyone hear anything about this? I don't want to go popping Tums or Xantac into him until I've gotten a little more scoop from moms (and talked to his pediatrician too, obviously).

20mg Focalin XR bid
Hi,
I've been reading the posts here for a little while and have found them very informative.
I found this
article very interesting. It is about the effect Prilosec has on the absorption of Vyvanse and ADDERALL.
Hope it helps.
