| Ritalin vs Adderall vs Metadate | |||
| |
I am 42 with ADD. I was on Ritalin a few years ago then stopped. When I started again I had really bad headaches taking it. (also headaches without it). I also tried Adderall and Metadate. Now that I have my headaches under control the pdoc said that I could try again. I can choose which ever one I want and we are going to see which one feels better for me. I have really only taken Ritalin for any length of time. Not sure about Adderall and Metadate. I hate the side effects of sleeplessness and weight loss. Do these differ any? rapidthoughts Hey rapid thoughts, I wanted to tell you I have only taken Ritalin and metadate CD and concerta. This is my personal opinion..take what you want to take, because I think everything works different for people. I took ritalin and hated it because I would take it and feel great for a while and then have to take the medicine again. I go to college and am to busy to have to take a pill every four hours. Plus it made me feel funny when it was wearing off. I took concerta for about a year-I liked it cause it lasted a long time like 10 hour (varies though). I then changed to metadate CD. I like this medication, but it does not last as long as the concerta. It is up to you though. I did had bad side effects from the ritalin, I don't really remember what-just not happy. To make it so you do not lose weight you have to make yourself eat! The sleeplessness? I used to never be tired, now I am. I guess it is because I wake up at four for school and don't get to sleep till 12:00. Maybe if you just make yourself busy? I still get headaches sometimes, but I guess I just ignore them. I wish you luck and hope to find something that works for you. My personal experience has been most positive with Adderall. I've taken it now for about five years, was at 60mg/day, but went down to just one or two of the 20mg time release ones (XR). I am now using Strattera (40mg/ day), with just one Adderall 20 in the morning. Still testing, as I would like phase out taking any amphetamines daily, just on general principles.... But as stated before, it's all how it affects you, we are all made up differently..... Good luck. |
