Have a great time in China!!!!

There is much less chance of making a social blunder there than you would back home.

#1 - I don't mean to stereotype, but in general they seem to be a very open and fun-loving group of people.

#2 - Although I have never visited mainland China, my experience in Asia in general is that few people there would expect you to know or adhere to intracate local customs.

#3 - Flying is without question THE safest form of travel. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor for something to calm you when you go.

But whatever you do, GO!!!!

Hi Rae...something I learned in counseling was that in the past whenever I got all my sh*t together, like getting my home cleaned , etc., something would always go wrong. I began to believe that if I'm happy and things are going smoothly, something would inevitably go terribly wrong. I would even go so far as to sabatoge my happiness without realizing it. So I can understand the anxiousness you may be going through when you should actually be enjoying it all! Sit back and enjoy. We'd love to hear how you're going superrae!

Well I decided against China - because it removes the stress about my little one starting preschool and my big one starting highschool and not being here.

I would rather get them settled in than be in another country (specially after that earthquake/tsunami)

Also, Christmas was good and bad, family fights as usually.  I decided next year to boycott it all together!

But we did a good job catering it - so Yeah for us!!!!!

Thanks all for your kind thoughts, but I am feeling much clearer now and ready for the new school year.

I am excited about the prospect of all kids at school and China is not happening anymore anyway - for the time being - so the delay may give me time to decide.

Life does work out in the end.

Okay, Nothing that is wrong with me is Bad, it is just life.  But there are just so many changes that I just feel overwhelmed ATM.

1. My youngest is starting school 2005

2. My eldest is starting highschool 2005

3. For the first time in 12 years I wont have a child at home

4. For the first time in my life things are going well

5. My husbands business is actually making some money for the first time in 4 years

6. My oldest two girls are developing young women things.

7. I got invited on a business trip with Hubby to china and I am so afraid of flying

8. I am socially inept that I would make a fool of myself in front of the chinese buiness men.

9. I want to go to China but think my fears will stop me.

10. My family rarely visit me - but I am throwing the Christmas Party this year and I will have all 40 in my house at once

11. I feel like such a dipsh*t for being stressed when everything is good.

12. Why do I panic when there is nothing wrong.

13. What the hell is wrong with me

Anxiety attack and mini mental meltdown Rae.

Hang in there Rae! Take a minute to meditate.

OMG - Just the thought of having 40 people at my house would cause me to have a meltdown!  I can't even handle having neighbors over.  You are so lucky to have so many family around you though!

Actually, I find the Chinese are so easy to get along with socially, and I have terrible social problems.  All you have to do is keep your mouth shut, smile, and bring them small gifts.  Easy enough when you can't understand what they are saying anyway. (The Chinese I know are absolutely wonderful people! I don't mean to offend anyone).  I hope you can get the courage to go to China!

 Have a merry Christmas!

Omg! It's the calm before the storm! BRACE YOURSELF!

Actually Congrat on many of the things listed, glad things are going well for you

I think a few things listed are things to be anxious about, 40 people are alot! traveling overseas is scary or it would be for me!

Just because things are good when there is ALOT going on at once it OvER stimulates the already OVer stimulated ADD person! excitement is still a form of stress to the mind. The more I have going on , even if good, can get me in a tizzy and make me very anxious and then I can spiral down from being OVER stimulated.

Mediatation was a good suggestion and I do that daily, don't forget to BREATHE in general.  Maybe you need to compartmentize your list and handle one thing at a time as you need too? just a thought.

Remember our brains are wired differently and we really can't handle tooo much on our plate at one time. List out what you need to for that day. If you can *organize* it and not view it as ONE BIG thing, maybe that will help?

I am just suggesting things that help me when I get this way, hope it helps!

Thanks for all the tips - Okay got it -

Gifts for the Chinese -

Breathe (the funny thing is I have been holding my breath a lot without noticing, and find myself a bit breathless - does anyone else do this)

and Meditate.

I am a being really dippy the last few days and talking incessantly and at top speed.  Must breath/meditate - good Idea

Thanks All.

Rae70,

GO! to China, my husband flew for the first time at the age of 30, after it was all over he couldn't believe he made such a stink about flying, we now fly to my mothers house once a year. Have a great time (if you go). Congratulations on every thing else going well in your life!

Breathe (the funny thing is I have been holding my breath a lot without noticing, and find myself a bit breathless - does anyone else do this)

YES! this is why I said it, when people are under stress we shallow or hold our breath, deeeep breathes really help release stress/tention. I sigh ALOT more than I use to! just to get the DEEEEP breath!

1) Congrats

2) Congrats

3) Throw a friggin party!!!

4) Don't look for things to go wrong.  Enjoy that things are going well.

5) Spend a little extra on you two.

6) I would be more worried if your girls were NOT developing anything.

7) Stick close to any large guys having a crew-cut hair style and a strong military presence about them and you'll be fine.  Order extra cocktails... free on international flights.

8) Socially-inept is not letting more than half the world freely go into your country... don't worry about the China men.

9) Because of the reservations you have about leaving for China will make it the best trip you have ever been on and you will thank yourself (and your hubby) forever and ever for going.

10) Hmmm... relatives.  Can't help you there.  I tend to run from mine as much as possible.

11) Natural feeling... nyou're waiting for something bad to happen.  Don't.

12) See answer to #11

13) Your human, that's what is wrong.  My only suggestion is to find a medicine man and change yourself into a deer or monkey, but since you can't... enjoy!

You'll be fine.  Breathe.  Scream at a tree... that helps... at least I had to go through the "screaming at tree" process during Drill Instructor school.  Can be embarrasing, but you'll feel better.  May hurt the tree's feelings, though...
