Which ADD medication for a young child? | ADHD Information

My younger son (will be 7 in April) was started on Vyvanse, 30mg in early December. We started at that dose rather than 20mg as we wanted room to move up or down, depending on what my son needed. He's doing extremely well now at school (he hasn't had to move his name since he started the meds) and his confidence and self-esteem in regards to school and school work, has SOARED!

My only complaint is the defiant behavior and bad attitude we had before starting the meds, has worsened with the crash in the afternoons we get from the meds wearing off. If it continues to worsen throughout this week, I will be calling my son's pediatrician to see what we need to do to alleviate these symptoms.

I have a 7 year old son who was just recently diagnosed with ADD. I was wondering what medications did your doctors try your young child on first and what medications ended up being the one that worked the best. I know children are all different and the medications work differently but I was just wondering. Thanks for any help!
