help. can strattera work this quick? | ADHD Information

My son (8) started 10mg of  Strattera Thursday night and today he was horrible!!!!!! All  day he was mad, angry, swearing, crying, etc.. (he is also getting a cold or something, but that should not make you like that) he takes his normal Concerta and Zoloft in the am and that did not seem to help. He was a mess all day. It was exhausting.

 

will call the dr, in the morning. may take him off the Strattera. can it work that quickly. I thought it had to build up in the system?

You can get side effects from Strattera immediately.
For me, the first day I take strattera I always pass
out. I sleep all day long. By the second day I'm awake
again, but the other side-effects I get have already
begun.

And while Strattera does take a few weeks to hit peak
performance, you can, and often do, see some results
within a few days. For me it's 3-4 days before I notice
a difference. Then it grows from there.

The problem with your situation is that it could very
well be the cold that's causing problems. Or even a
very initial side-effect that could wear off. You'll
just have to judge and see if it's worth it to see it
out for a few more days to see if there's any
improvement.
