Stimulants and Sense of time | ADHD Information
your post resonates with my experiences. During the day when my meds are in effect I sense time in a reality state, but later in the evening I return to the other dimension, where looking at my email etc for 10 minutes turns into 2 hours ...
So, I've got my list of favorite things about stimulant
medication. They're things like "I sleep like a baby",
"I don't run out the door and back in 50 times on my way
to work because I keep forgetting things", etc.
But one of the oddest things is my sense of time. Time
seems to slow down dramatically for me on stimulants.
An hour seems to take forever (though not in a bad way).
Whereas when I'm not on meds, the time just flies by in
a fog.
Anyone else feel this way? I wonder if it's just
because I'm more aware of my surroundings on stimulants,
and I'm not just lost in thought (and it's hard to
measure how long a thought took), and that I'm also less
prone to run from obsession to obsession (video games
for three hours- which feels like 30 minutes- web
surfing for 2 hours- which feels like 25 minutes- etc)
in an effort to find something to occupy my mind.
