Adderall XR 20mg question | ADHD Information
Hello everybody. I'm new to this site and forgive me if my following questions have already been discussed. If it has, please direct me to the right place. Thank you in advance.
When I was 13, I was diagnosed with ADHD and was prescribed Ritalin. I remember going from a bad student with awful grades to a student who pays attention and made rather good grades. I only took it for 2 years though. I was taken off of it when my mother found out on the news that other kids use it as speed. She was afraid I was going to sell it I guess? i ended up going back to my old self. I couldn't focus, I was very impulsive and got in trouble a lot just like before.
Now, I'm 28. I just started seeing a counselor again recently and he says I still have severe symptoms of ADHD. I was prescribed Adderall XR 20mg dosage. Yesterday was my 1st day to take it. He told me in advance that for the first few days I'm really going to feel like I'm on something.
This is my 2nd day of taking it and I feel literally like I'm on some kind of speed. My heart is beating faster, I'm talking a lot, I'm semi jittery, I can't fully collect my thoughts all that well when I get going into something.
Is this normal? is this what he meant by "You'll feel like you're on something"? Will this eventually settle down in my system? I was so happy to know I was going to be able to get back on meds due to college, job, my kids, etc. But this doesn't feel like its calming me down at all.
Any helpful responses would be greatly appreciated.
JohnnyAngel7739844.6276967593 It might be the wrong dose or med for you. It takes a while to find the right med and dose Who is precribing the meds? Are they being precribed by a psychiatrist who is a specialist in med management? The first prescribing dose should be at the lowest dose possible and then it is raised based on response and reaction. You should have been started on 10 mg, not 20. Response to medication is very individual. Your not on speed as the delivery system for ADHD meds is totally different but again, the dose may be too high for you. Speak to your doc about these side affects asap Well, I think I just found the problem. I'm a little dumb for not realizing this was a bad idea until my wife confronted me a few minutes ago. I've been taking Hydroxycut for the last month or so which gives me a huge boost in energy as it is. My wife being an RN told me, "Umm, don't ever take that again while you are on your meds! You could have a heart attack!."
Guess I'll try it tomorrow without the diet pills in the mix and see how that works out.
