Help! New to boards -Side Effect ?’s | ADHD Information

I'm 26yo, newly diagnosed with ADHD (as well as having significant fatigue) and new to these boards and desperately in need of some advice from those with experience.

I am on Adderall 10mg XR. This is my second day of taking it and for the first 4 hours or so, I get a very "trippy" feeling. Head rush, occasional increased heart rate, extreme dry mouth, slight headache. It starts to mellow out after those 4 hours into a better, more effective drug.

I've tried 5mg XR, but that doesn't seem to do anything for me. What I need to know is:

1. Do these side effects decrease once I have been on it a little and body adjusts?
2. If I'm having these side effects, does that mean that I need to look into a different med?
3. I have been taking my pill first thing in the morning before I eat. Should I eat first to minimize side effects?
4. Can I take my normal multivitamin while on Adderall? And if so, should I take it before, same time, or later than my Adderall?
5. Does anyone have thoughts on taking a "drug day off" every now and then to prevent tolerance?

Any help with these questions would be much appreciated! My doctor prescribes the drugs for me, but is not very knowledgable about the subtlties other than the prescribing information. Thanks
