| Late again.... | |||
| |
I've been working for my company now for just over 3 months. I work almost opposite my house and am nearly always 2-3 minutes late. They've just commented and its making me panic. I told them all about my ADHD when I started and they said it would be fine and now I'm employed permanently they have told me that its not any excuse, I should be on time. It really makes me wince as I have started in a nursery setting and I love it. I also pointed out that I often work 10 minutes over time, but they told me its not the point. Nobody picks up my work though and I'm always in before any parents or children come in. I work damn hard for them. I will get down if this starts to play on my mind. I don't know what to do. I woke up at 7.00 this morning to get in for 9am and its a 2 minute walk. How do you cope?? I really don't want to start hating my job because of 2 minutes.Can you try for an 845 start? Being late is one of my biggest pet peeves (by me or anyone else). I'd rather be somewhere a half hour early than one minute late. I over-compensate. However, I will say that it seems your employer is being petty and nit-picky. Perhaps they are concerned that the 2 minutes will turn into 5 and then 10. Is that a possibility? Can you sit down and talk to them more about your ADD and how you aren't really trying to use it as an excuse? (excuses is something i'm struggling with at the moment) Most people just need to be educated about ADD. Perhaps if you can talk calmly and professionally with them, you all might be able to come up with a solution. Do you think you could be sub-consciously be sabotaging your job? Setting yourself up for failure because that's what you're used to? Just things to think about. Lastly, it sounds as if you're already resentful because of this 2 minutes. Seeking a solution is better than harboring resentment. Good luck and keep us posted. MOUNTIANS AND MOLE HILLS
you simply have to be there fifteen minutes early every day. put an alarm near your house's exit door. when i goes off make a b-line for work. dont mix chores and errands with this " b-line to work " time. over time you would have confidence in this system and would relax.
remember some adhd folks struggle with "keeping time"
do wear a watch is it accurate does it prompt to effectively
can you set reminders in a cell phone to prompt when you need to stay on track with the clock
I do im still late sometimes but not for not knowing what it was. |
