Thanks everyone. I was extremely please that we found the right meds. the first go around.
I wish nothing but success for each and every parent that has a child with ADHD. It is a hard thing to get your arms wrapped around, but when you do, the bad times just demenish and you only focus on the good....
Good luck to all...
ranbel39856.2317939815My son, age 51/2, was selected as the "terrific kid of the week" in his class. I am so proud of him. He has been on 5mg of dexedrine for about 10 days now and he has been getting smiley faces everyday at school. It's amazing how this has made such a positive effect on him.
He was so cute when he said: Mommy, I was chose as the terrific kid and I've never been that before. He seems much happier then before the meds. Of course, we have our normal struggles at night, homework, bed time..but, it not anything out of the ordinary of a non - ADHD child. We only give him the 1 pill in th AM, just to get him thru school. We can manage him otherwise.
Just wanted to share some good news for a change....
Congratulations to your ds again. How wonderful!

Of course he is happier because he now is able to meet his full potential and through his accomplishments hes learning to value himself. Thats the reason that the earlier the child gets effective treatment, the better the outcome down the road because they don't go through the best years of their childhood getting beat down emotionally by society. YAY!!!!

That's so great! I'm so glad he is proud of himself, because sometimes it's
Hooray!

Awards like this are great for any child, but especially a child who previously was struggling! It's amazing what a difference the meds (or alternative treatments) can make when you correct a chemical imbalance, and our children then can reach their true potential!
On effective medication there is no inattention issue. The child's capabilities truly shine because they are now focused, no longer inattentive. Struggles come into play and its hard for the ADHD child in the absence of effective treatment.
Congratulations to your son ranbel and congraulations to you too mom. Your doing a great job
