Focalin XR dose | ADHD Information

I'm a freshman in college and I recently started taking focalin xr again. I
took it for about 3 years and had the most success with it of all the
medications I tried. When I started college I decided to switch to the short
acting to fit my schedule better, however, it didn't work as well as I hoped so
I switched back to focalin xr. I am taking 20mg which is the same as I took
in high school. The problem is that it doesn't seem to be working as well as
it did in high school. Do you think I need a higher dose? Is it possible to
develop a tolerance for this medicine? There is no tolerance to stimulant meds because they are not blood level medications. They are out of your system not too long after a dose has worn off. The fact that the meds are not working as they used to suggests a hormonal issue given your age. This can happen if hormones are changing. Discuss a dose or med change with your doctor. switched from my pediatrician(who was very flexible and knew a lot about
ADHD drugs) to my families doctor. He has a very out dated view on
medicine though. When I talked to him last and explain that I had not found
the short acting as helpful as the xr and wanted to switch back, he was very
reluctant because I got very good grades last quarter and he said there was
no need to change. I tried to explain that my grade are not dependent on my
medicine, but on my motivation and amount of time studying and that the
amount of time I spent studying and re-teaching myself what I missed in
class was overwhelming. He was pushing for me to not take medicine. Do
you know if you can get a prescription from your student health center?
