Matthew was diagnosed about a month and a half ago of ADHD. Before this we have went through lots of changes, therapy, you name it we tried it. He is in a private school and they were going to expell him if we did not address the issue of his behavior. I was at a loss when I had him tested for ADHD. He was diagnosed and I was relieved to finaly know what the problem was. However, the the meds came. For the first three weeks he did great, then he went back to the same way he was before. We went back to the DR and they gave him a higher dose, then he started the winning. He no longer talks to me, all he does is wine. We took him to the Dr again and they gave him an anti-depresant to help with that as well as the weight loss (5 pounds so far). THe anti depresant has helped some but not much. I am not an only parent, however my husband is not home most nights so I feel like I am the only one to deal with the problem. I love my son dearly but what am I doing wrong that I can not get this under control.
What meds is your son on and what dose some take longer to get used to then others and some just don't work at all for you. It is a trial and error process it is actually pretty rare for the first med the doctor prescribes to be the one that will help. People have different experiences but many have had to try multiple meds before finding the one that helped. |
