Hi, I have been on Dex for 3 years now. I started when I was at uni and saw a dramatic improvement in my grades within the first year of being medicated. After being medicated for 3 years I am concerned about the long term effects of the meds. A friend of mine who works in the medical industry has informed me that the long term effects of dex are similar to speed usage. I have not found a medical journal article which supports this view. My other concern is whether dex ages you physically. Again I have not read a journal article which indicates that it does. There just seems to be so little information on the effects of this drug in the long term. Perhaps some others out there may be able to shed some light? Your response is much appreciated. Anna-Louise I would hear more too. My 6yr old is taking dexedrine. I'm just guessing that this is the same medication. If not, I'm sorry. I just so new to this med stuff. Thanks Your friend is ill informed and working in the medical industry doesnt qualify a person as an expert on the topic. These medications have a totally different delivery system so there is no similarity to speed usage. If the medication is taken as prescribed under professional supervision like any other medication, this medication is totally safe. Dexedrine is a stimulant like Ritilan and Ritilan has been around since the 1930's. Unless your looking at junk science, you will not find anything credible in terms of backing up your friend's statement. Hope this helps. |
