I am in the same boat. My son is 3 1/2 and has hyperactive-impulsive adhd. I want him to do the same things his 8 year old sister got to do at this age. But I don't know where to start. Like what kind of activities to put him in. Where I live they have karate for 4 year olds or little gymnastics for 3 and up. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Hello everyone,
I am new here and just regristered 40 seconds ago. My D was dx'd at 4 years old because she was that out of control. I took her to a childrens hospital to evaluate. My now ex-husband and I agreed we did not want to medicate her. 4 years later and after 4 yrs of trying everything other the sun we decided to medicate her. As I was saying yes I hated myself inside. She is on Focalin 15 Mg XR during the day and at most night Focalin 5 mg. I used to only give the 5mg in the evening when we had events. I am finding myself giving it to her more as the evenings in our house have become so challenging for so many reasons.
Hi, I am new here and new to all of this in general. I'm Rebecca, my son Bryan is 5 and my daughter Lily is 1. I've been married to a great guy(chris) for 8 years. The whole story of how my son was diagnosed with inattentive adhd is quite long but I'm sure to everyone here is quite a common story. He started kindergarten this year and has struggled since the beginning. He has a couple of amazing teachers who have done everything they can to help him but nothing was working. I finally mentioned I was considering having him screened for A.D.D. Apparently at his school the teachers aren't allowed to say anything to the parents unless the parent brings it up first. They had both been waiting for me to say something because they both know he is smart and gets it but can't focus on his work. His Dr. asked what has been going on, made sure it wasn't something else and perscribed him 10mg of focalin xr. He started taking it on Friday and there was an immiedate HUGE difference at home and at school. He is getting his work done, getting homework done, cleaning his room and just a happier kid. I'm leaving out a WHOLE lot but I really don't want my intro to turn into a novel. lol Welcome! Glad your son is doing so well. This is an awesome place to come
