Hello all. My 13 year old son was just diagnosed last week, they suspected it but done the test and yep that's it. At first I was told he had a mood disorder (bi-polar) I knew that wasn't it, I know my son well enough to know better. but the ADHD sounded lots like him. He just started Vyvnase 20mg this week, seems to be doing some good. I don't know how long it takes, does anyone? I know he does better with doing his homework since taking it, before it was a nightmare to get him to do his Social studies, and all this week he had done it and gotten 100%'s on his work. Hope things go well as they have been this week.
My son is also 13 (dx's ADHD when he was 5). I am glad things are going better for you and your son. Definitely educate yourself on ADHD, Bi-polar, etc. Yes, these things can be together but also there are many incorrect dx's given. DO your homework and watch your son carefully. Since my son hit puberty, I know I personally struggle with what is ADHD and what is just normal 13 year old behavior (I am surprised at how much ADHD and typical middle school behavior can look a like!) I hope the meds continue to work - it is wonderful when things get better! I don't know anything about Vyvance but most of the stiulant meds start helping right away.
Wishing you continued success!
