My DD age 9 yrs was recently started on the Daytrana patch - So far we love it. She gets good control on it and homework and the evenings are easier for her. We do keep it on longer than the recommended 9 hrs and it does not bother her skin or keep her awake at night.
The only issue we are having is getting the patch to stay on when it gets wet. The other day, it came offafter a short bath. It also came off during a rainy soccer game. We just reserved a beach condo for July, so am wanting to plan ahead.
The doctor who prescirbed it to us says she has a patient on a high school swim team who manages to keep it on during parcitce and meets. Maybe those tight suits help hold it in place :) ?
I know it says not to cover the patch with tape, but what about covering just the edges with tape? Any harm with that?
If that doesn't work, has anyone tried getting an additional Rx for a long acting to cover beach/swimming days?
My dd absolutely cannot go without her meds. She and all around her are miserable without her being on meds.
